BPR-3 issue 7 (draft) – Application Procedures and Rules for FM Broadcasting Undertakings

The Department of Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada is seeking comments on the following broadcasting standard: BPR-3 issue 7 (draft) – “Application Procedures and Rules for FM Broadcasting Undertakings.”

BPR-3, issue 7, sets forth specific requirements applicable to FM transmitters in the 88 – 108 MHz band. BPR-3 prescribes the required information for filing broadcasting certificate applications and specifies the technical standards and requirements as well as operational terms and conditions applicable to analog and digital FM broadcasting undertakings.     

The following are the main changes: .      

  1. a)A new procedure for the adoption of In-Band On-Channel (IBOC) digital radio broadcasting.
  2. b)Transition to online applications by default and email applications only in special circumstances
  3. c)Other updates have been made, including editorial changes

Comments are due no later than Monday, October 2nd, 2023.
