Review of Safety Code 6 Compliance Requirements for Broadcasters

On May 19, 2017, the Department officially announced its new Client-Based Safety Code 6 Reporting Program by sending letters to broadcasters across the country. These letters indicated that for broadcasting certificates expiring on August 31, 2017, operators must submit Safety Code 6 compliance information by July 31, 2017. Members of the Broadcast Industry and technical consultants have identified some potential improvements that could be made to the program. The RABC has created a working group to explore the reporting program and to better understand the challenges associated with the July 31st deadline.
