ISED Radio Standards Specification, RSS-196, Issue 2 – Point-to-Multipoint Broadband Equipment Operating in the Bands 512-608 MHz for Rural Remote Broadband Systems (RRBS) (TV Channels 21 to 36)

The Department of Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada is seeking comments on the following CONSULTATION:

RSS-196 Issue 2Point-to-Multipoint Broadband Equipment Operating in the Bands 512-608 MHz for Rural Remote Broadband Systems (RRBS) (TV Channels 21 to 36) sets out the requirements for certification of equipment employed in Rural Remote Broadband Systems (RRBS) to provide point-to-multipoint fixed wireless access broadband radiocommunication in the bands 512-608 MHz (TV channels 21 to 36).

RSS-196 is updated to remove the band 614-698 MHz as per the policy decision in the document Decision on Repurposing the 600 MHz Band (SLPB-004-15).  The bands 617-652 MHz and 663-698 MHz are now covered in RSS-130 which is currently under consultation.  In addition, the 600 MHz band is currently being under review for the use of white space devices and wireless microphones as per documents Consultation on the Technical and Policy Framework for White Space Devices and Consultation on the Technical, Policy and Licensing Framework for Wireless Microphones.
