SRSP-501 issue 6 (draft) – Technical Requirements for Land Mobile and Fixed Radio Services Operating in the Bands 406.1-430 MHz and 450-470 MHz

The Department of Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED) is seeking comments on the following technical standard: SRSP-501 issue 6 (draft) – Technical Requirements for Land Mobile and Fixed Radio Services Operating in the Bands 406.1-430 MHz and 450-470 MHz.

 SRSP-501, issue 6, outlines the minimum technical requirements to ensure efficient spectrum utilization for land mobile and fixed point-to-point systems operating in the bands 406.1-430 MHz and 450-470 MHz.

The following are the main changes:

  1. Removed mentions of the redeployment plan policy.
  2. Added requirements for minimum spectrum efficiency.
  3. Added requirements in relation to protection of the mobile satellite service (MSS), distress and safety systems, in the band 406-406.1 MHz.
  4. Added provisions related to geographic separation between co-channel systems.
  5. Other updates, including editorial changes and clarifications.

 Comments are due no later than Friday, October 9, 2026.
