The Department of Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada is seeking comments on the following broadcasting standard: BPR-2 issue 4 (draft) – Application Procedures and Rules for AM Broadcasting Undertakings
BPR-2, issue 4, sets forth specific requirements applicable to AM transmitters in the 525 – 1705 kHz band. BPR-2 prescribes the required information for filing broadcasting certificate applications and specifies the technical standards and requirements as well as operational terms and conditions applicable to analog and digital AM broadcasting undertakings.
The following are the main changes:
- A new procedure for the AM proof of performance using computer modeling;
- A new procedure for the adoption of In-Band On-Channel (IBOC) digital radio broadcasting;
- Transition to online applications by default and email applications only in special circumstances; and
- Other updates have been made, including editorial changes.
Comments are due no later than January 24, 2025.
